GERMAN FOR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS
"Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen."* This maxim applies both to your specialized knowledge, as well as your technical language!
High-level German language skills are extremely important for doctors coming from abroad. In the courses, I actively prepare you for everyday work in hospitals, medical practices or health centers. At the same time, the training aims to help you pass the Technical Language Exam (Fachsprachenprüfung, FSP) before the Medical Association (Ärztekammer). The agenda therefore includes:
-
doctor-patient discussions (e.g. informational interviews, anamnesis interviews)
-
doctor-doctor discussions (e.g. patient presentation, discussion of differential diagnoses)
-
written documentation
-
pronunciation training (medical terms included)
-
getting to grips with intercultural and socio-psychological aspects
-
consolidation of grammatical structures that are relevant for everyday clinical practice (e.g. indirect speech, passive voice)
* Saying for "No one is Born a master."
AUDITORY PHONETICS /
PRONOUNCIATION TRAINING
"Der Ton macht die Musik!" - And intonation is what makes the language! In German courses, phonetics is usually not practiced enough. In fact, phonetic errors are much more serious than grammatical ones when it comes to being understood. Improper pronunciation can often lead to terrible misunderstandings! As an experienced phonetics trainer, correct pronunciation is therefore a matter that is very close to my heart. We practice:
-
intonation (melody of how a sentence sounds)
-
mutated vowels (Ö, Ä, Ü)
-
accentuation
*Saying for "It's not what you say, but how you say it."
